A Show Worth Seeing at The Colony Hotel

I saw Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. tonight at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. Remember them from The Fifth Dimension? They transformed a rather stuffy audience into hand-clapping, sing-a-long participants. They brought joy to that room - a couple of these folks got up in very formal attire and actually started dancing with the waiters. It was, as I was told it would be, a master class in the art of cabaret.

Their voices are fantastic - they've aged like fine wine, bringing life experience with more depth and color in their lower ranges while keeping their upper ranges intact and beautiful. They had an amazing quartet behind them, delivering a seamless and intimate performance.

Both artists chatted with members of the audience at length after the show (me included). If you want to take a trip down memory lane (Up, Up and Away, Stoned Soul Picnic, The Age of Aquarius, Why Don't You Marry Me Bill to name just a few), I'd highly recommend going to see them. They'll be at The Colony through February 2nd.
